About the Instructor: Jennifer Calvin-Myers, LICSW

As a social worker in Washington for the last ten+ years, I've helped people learn about and navigate many types of social service systems and programs. For three years I was a social worker for a non-profit serving adults and families with financial assistance, employment support, and mental health counselling.

In that role, I also served as a certified SHIBA counselor providing Medicare education and individual enrollment assistance. In a new job, I became the volunteer coordinator for the SHIBA program in Kitsap county for another 4 years, where I trained and supported volunteers and delivered individual Medicare counseling, enrollment assistance, and education presentations.

For 7.5 years I was a supervisor of programs that help older adults and family caregivers in Kitsap County (including the 4 years as SHIBA volunteer coordinator).

I maintain Sound Self, PLLC to promote social justice through education for social workers, marriage and family therapists, and mental health counselors to increase understanding and sharing of resources and services to elevate access in their communities.

To recharge, I enjoy staying active outdoors, creating crafts, traveling a tad, dabbling in baking, and relaxing with my two cats and husband :)
